Bard on the Beach

Oh man. I’ve been so draggin’ my sorry little tushy this week that I forgot to even mention that I went to the most fantastic play this week. Karen and I went to see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the annual Shakespeare festival thingy here in Vancouver. You remember Karen right?

It was outside under a big ol’ tent at Vanier park. So lovely. We’re going back to see Hamlet on Aug 16. I highly recommend this for anyone in Vancouver over the next month or so. Really, go see it, go, get tickets right now. I’ll wait here.

Brillaint acting, great setting, up close and personal seating. I loved every second of it! The fact that it is one of my favourite plays is great too. I was such a happy camper.

I also got a magnetic Shakespeare poetry kit at the gifty shop. I’m all creative and getting down with my bad poetic self, on the fridge door of course!

Going to the Agrifair this weekend. I love stuff like this. All the animals just make me swoon. And, as an added bonus, Mount Lehman Llamas are usually there selling yarn! Sweet!

Okay, off to study. Crim final on Tuesday, must pull off a B or B+ minimum. Sigh. I hate being an overachiever. I wanna be a slacker when I grow up. Oh wait, that would mean not actually growing up. Sh*t, too late then eh?

Something I love more than yarn….

It’s hot. Like Africa hot. Like Jane & Tarzan hot. Kudos & bonus points to anyone who can name where that little quote came from! I’m going back to my little piece of heaven now!

Sock Update!

I know it’s just math, but I think turning a heel is a little bit like magic! You know what I mean? Posted by Picasa

You do the math

Sure, I’m smiling in this picture. I wasn’t 15 minutes before this when I discovered this mess! And that is what I did with my Sunday afternoon. Now I gotta email lotusblossom and see if she has anymore of this gorgeous yarn. Stella killed about 1/3 of the skein. Her teeth are like little razor blades!

Something new….

Okay, I’m just trying something out here. No need to panic people!

Oh my God. It totally worked. Why am I always amazed when something works. Blogger said it would work, it worked, yet I am like a caveman who has just been shown a flashlight. Ooooooooooooooooo! Unk, mungowa!

Anyway, not that y’all care, but that’s my sofa from Ikea that we got a couple of months ago. It was the first image I hit in my files to try out the new image thingy from Blogger. Oh, and not two days after owning this cute new couch, Stella the wonder dog chewed a big ol’ chunk out of the arm. Sigh. Good thing she is pretty.

Okay, enough of this. I’m off to finish my Crim assignment and knit on my sock. I’m working the heal flap now. I’ll take some picis this weekend and update.

Sock Pal Sock gets a little sun!

Here she is, in all her glory. The beginnings of my SockaPal-2-za socks. I’m using the Shelridge Farms merino. Soft like butta I tell ya. Loving it. This is also the first time I’ve done a sock on a single long circular, and I learned a new cast on for the project. It is a sock of many beginnings!

I’m using the Lacy Scallops pattern at Sock Bug. Love them, so pretty. I didn’t do the picot top though. Opted for a nice simple garter stitch band. I love them and the colours in the yarn are really nice too. In some light I think it looks like pine trees, in other light it looks like the ocean. A very west coast of BC sock. :)

I also came across this site last night, Northern Sunshine Designs. Another Canadian vendor, this time right here in BC. Really nice sock patterns and a portion of all her sales goes to the BC Cancer Foundation. Oh, and there’s a sale right now! I love a sale. Anyway, no affiliation, just a very pleased customer.

So, I’m off to knit for a spell. We are about to have our first little heat wave of the year and I’m going to find a nice shady spot and settle in.

Isn’t this stuff amazing? So bright and beautiful! Posted by Picasa

This came in the mail today from LotusBlossom. It is so amazingly beautiful. I can’t wait to make socks or a lacy scarf out of it. Can you imagine wearing a scarf that bright in the winter grey. WOW! Everyone around you will be awake.

I haven’t been posting much lately. I’ve been feeling a bit blue. The job search has not been going well, not a single call or interview. I was starting to think that I was going to be working at my current job forever. But….today….I got a call! I have an interview on Wednesday. Woot woot! It doesn’t even matter if I get it or not, I was that down and out about this. I’m just so happy to have gotten a call. Sending out so many applications without any feedback was making me feel a bit invisible. Now of course I’m nervous! Bahaha. There is no satisfying some people is there?

Also, stopped into the MCC store this afternoon (Menonite thrift store) and found 6 circular, sizes 2 – 4 mm’s and 6 balls of Patons Baldwins OLD sock yarn in burgundy, grand total (drum roll please) $4.78. I swear, I should go buy a lottery ticket today I’m feeling so much better.

I’m off to knit a bit and listen to the end of my novel. I love this listening to a book while knitting stuff. Brilliant. Not the same feel as reading the traditional reading but nice just the same. Have a good night all. :)

Why yes, I am exactly that cool! I’ve officially gone over to some alternate reality and am now knitting for inanimate objects in my home. First recipient of a little lovin’ was Mister Toidy Bowl. And doesn’t he look handsome in his new teal hat! He is sooooooo working that. bahahahahahahahahaha! Posted by Picasa

Just because you’re vacuuming doesn’t mean I don’t want access to my kitty tube, thank you very much! Actually, let’s leave it up here, at least this way I’m as tall as the dogs. Posted by Picasa
