Sock Torture

Okay, I was looking at the picture of my socks and thought that they needed a little tweaking. So, to that end, I present to you, Modern Sock Torture Techniques 2005 (trademark pending!):

Thank you, thank you very much. Why yes, I am very proud of my work in this area, however, there is still so much more to be done….

Boo Yah Baby!

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present, my Sockapaltwoza socks, fait accompli!

I’m really pleased with these little socks, and the utra cheap and easy sock blockers! They are currently hanging from my shower curtain rod and drying their little lavender Euculan scented hearts out.

Stats:

Pattern: Sock Bug’s Scalloped Lacy Socks (modified somewhat, did not do the picot cast on, went for the garter stitch top instead. Next time, I think I’ll be braver and try the picot.
Fibre: Shelridge Farms 100% soft touch Merino, like buttah I tell you!
Method – magic loop (my first time! blush!) 2 mm/0 US, 47″ Addi Turbo. (okay, now I feel like I should say something about double overhead cams. Hmmm, been watching Overhaulin’ a bit much maybe!)

Love this yarn, hope my sock pal will too. Now I’m just waiting to ship.

Okay, off to do more Dulaan knitting. Got me a scarf that wants completing.

I know, I promised…

I swear, I remember that I promised a pici of the socks yesterday. But then I got them almost done, and now I just have to Kitchener the second one and give them a bath and a block and ta-da! You know what I’m say? I think you do. So, to that end, I’m going to go Kitchener, and soon, you shall have socks. And maybe some picis of new stash acquisitions! Soon…. soon.

Wow…really?

I got a B, I got a B, I got a B! Look at me dance, see me whirl around the room. Phew, huge sigh of relief on the whole criminology final thing.

Also, please take a look at the Dulaan project link in the sidebar. Huge things being done by knitters like you and I. Please, make a little something that will make someone else’s life just a little bit easier.

Have a great night everyone! Tomorrow?!?!?!!?! Pics of my almost done Sockapaltwoza’s. Such a nice pattern. See ya soon!

Everything is eatable here…

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is excellent! I loved every second of it. Go, see it, go now. I’ll wait….

Whew!

Howdy. This month has been insane and I have been very neglectful of my blog. Why is it when life gets busy the first things that get neglected are those that you enjoy the most? Like knitting, reading (for pleasure, not studying!), or blogging.

Anyway, my final is behind me. I’m pretty sure I tanked it, but at least it is done. On my way to the final I got to ride on one of those huge busses withthe accordian pleat in the middle. Massive unit, and I am enough of a geek that this excited me and I took pictures of it! See:
The thing went on forever, I swear. I also noticed that no one sat ont he little jump seats in the accordian section of the bus. I don’t think I would want to either. There’s that little piece in the back of your head that states that if the bus were to separate, just if, mind you, that the logical place for that to occur would be the pleated bit, right? Just sayin’.

I loved being up that SFU for my final though. That feeling of knowledge and discension just purcolating away. Full time school would be nice, I tell you what.

Then we had the huge family reunion/barbecue thingy here at the house. People everywhere. Some that I had never met, others that I had not seen in years. It was very interesting, stressful, but interesting. And hey, I definitely don’t have to host Christmas this year! Whoot Whoot! Here is most of the gang, except for those taking pictures of course, oh and some folks who had ducked out early!

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. My brother was visiting from Winnipeg with his wife and their two kids. We hadn’t seen them in 6 years, and my other brother came for the day too, we hadn’t seen him in, I don’t know, like 7 years or so. It was kind of neat.

I also re-read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last week to get ready for the Half Blood Prince. I can’t believe how much I had forgotten from that book. I’m glad I re-read it before starting the new one this weekend.

I’ve also finished my first SockaPalTwoza sock and I’ve got about 2 inches done on the second one. Really nice pattern and now that I’ve got the stitch pattern memorized it goes a lot faster. I’m hoping to finish my second sock next week. I think I want to design a shrug with this stitch pattern. Something with slightly bell shaped sleeves, handpainted yarn, you know.

And finally, now that all the family and school stuff is over I can get back to a proper job search and get moving on with life. I want to be somewhere new doing something new within the next two months. The end of summer, the beginning of a new working situation. All good I tell you, all good.

I’m off, gotta get cleaned up to go see Charlie & the Chocolate Factory tonight. Going to see it in the Imax theatre. Should be cool!

Sockapal-2-za Poolside!

It’s been just a little warm around here lately. Warm enough that Mr. Sock wanted some pool time! I think it’s very important that my sock buddy get a happy, well adjusted, and well rested pair of socks. So, I took Mr. Sock out for some R&R on this lovely holiday Monday. Happy British Columbia day everyone!

One more pattern repeat and I’m decreasing for the toe baby!

I have my Crim final tomorrow so any and all good thoughts are gratefully appreciated! Have a wonderful week all!
