Mother Nature

Yummy produce from the garden! It was very tasty.

Then, yesterday, hubby was trimming some branches in a Rhodo and found this:

Why yes that is a huge wasp’s nest. Bald Faced Hornets to be exact. Nice, right? Last night after dark the killing commenced. We’ll see how effective it was later this morning.

I don’t mind telling you, they gave me the creeps. Oh, and for scale, that nest is the size of a basketball. Bleah!

Fore!

Today was the First Annual (?) company golf tournament. It was also the first time hubby or I have ever golfed. Good times! I’m just gonna say one thing: I got a wicked sunburn!
Here’s Tara looking particularly jaunty! It was a pretty rough course, sort of slightly manicured field really! Prolly about all we could handle as a group.

And here is my baby. So cute. This is pre-sunburn of course.

I also finished a project this week. Ta – friggin – da! I’m pretty happy with this baby blanket. It may be a bit large (a little over four feet square), but I really like the colours. Right, I’m off to do a bit of knitting. I was extremely bad and bought a metric tonne of Debbie Bliss Merino chunky off of Elann. I’m gonna go roll around in it some more!
Note: It would have been helpful to put in the link to the pattern, doh! So you can find it here. You can also find the yarn here.

I think this is my new favourite yarn for baby blankets. Nice colours, HUGE yardage, and quite soft after a trip through the washing machine.

A summer dinner

Hubby’s parents came to visit during our hot spell. Souvlaki, hummus, greek salad, and pitas. All chased down with cider, beer, and ginger ale for the more modest amongst us. Lovely evening.
